Doosan Bears catcher Yang Eui-ji is the leading vote getter in the first update for the 2024 Korea Baseball

Organization (KBO) All-Star Game voting.

The KBO said Yang had earned the most votes from fans in the first round of voting through Sunday, with

569,279.

Yang was the top vote getter for the 2018 All-Star Game and is looking to crack the All-Star starting lineup

for the eighth time. The 36-year-old is leading all catchers this season with a .333 batting average, 48 RBIs

and a .869 on-base plus slugging.

Players for the Bears will be on the "Dream" side, along with those representing the KT Wiz, the SSG

Landers, the Lotte Giants and the Samsung Lions.

Players from the five remaining clubs — the LG Twins, the NC Dinos, the Hanwha Eagles, the Kiwoom

Heroes and the Kia Tigers — will make up the "Nanum" 토토 side.

Tigers closer Jung Hai-young led all Nanum players with 569,055 votes, putting him just 224 behind Yang

for first place overall.

Jung, who was first voted onto the All-Star team in 2022, is tied for the KBO lead with 17 saves this

season.

Jung's teammate, third baseman Kim Do-yeong, is third overall with 557,073 votes. Kim was named

KBO's Player of the Month for April after becoming the first player in league history with at least 10 home

runs and 10 steals in a single month. Though he has since cooled off, Kim remains among the league

leaders with 14 homers, 19 steals and 74 hits.

The Tigers are first in the standings and also have the most positional leaders in All-Star voting.

Fans will vote in 12 players — starting pitcher, middle reliever, closer, catcher, first baseman, second

baseman, third baseman, shortstop, three outfielders and designated hitter — and a Tiger is leading the

way in every spot except second base and an outfield position for the Nanum team.

For the Dream side, the Lions are leading in six out of 12 positions, including all four infield positions.

Bears reliever Kim Taek-yeon is the only rookie in the lead, as he has garnered 548,211 votes for the

middle relief spot on the Dream team.

The KBO said the second update will be unveiled next Monday. Fan voting will close at 2 p.m. on June 16,

and the starting lineups, with fan voting accounting for 70 percent and player voting responsible for the

remaining 30 percent, will be announced on June 17.

The All-Star Game will be played at Incheon SSG Landers Field in Incheon, just west of Seoul, on July 6
